HELMSMAN
A two-day course covering basic boat handling, engine checks and safety.
This course is ideal for new owners conscious of the difficulty and hazards of boat handling in the marina. It is useful for crews as well as skippers. Apart from the obvious safety benefits of extra boat handlers on board, it adds interest if everyone can contribute to the trip.

Assumed knowledge: None
Minimum duration: 2 Days
Minimum age: 12 years
Course content:
Boat preparation, boat handling, types of craft, engines and drives, engine operation and maintenance, safety and seamanship, rules of the road, securing to a buoy, berthing alongside, man overboard recovery
Ability after course:
Competent to a handle motor cruiser of a specific type in sheltered waters. Qualified to apply for the ICC certificate, normally a requirment for using or chartering a vessel abroad.
Price:
€1,500 for the complete boat and up to 3 persons taking tuition.

- DAY SKIPPER
Take charge on short passages under instruction, with help and advice from your instructor.
This course can also help you get the best from your modern electronic aids, which are now virtually standard equipment on modern motor cruisers.
Before attending the course you should be able to navigate and we advise attending our RYA Day Skipper shorebased course to brush up on your skills. This is held in our modern Marina classroom. The course with Club Sail will be taken in tidal waters and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
Pre-course experience: 2 days practical experience on a motor cruiser
Assumed knowledge: Basic navigation and helmsmanship. It is recommended that you attend the Day Skipper Shorebased Course before taking this practical course
Minimum duration: 4 Days
Minimum age: 16 years
Course content:
Preparation for sea, boat handling, navigation, pilotage, passage making, meteorology, rules of the road, engines, emergency situations, night cruising.
Ability after the course: Able to skipper a motor cruiser in familiar waters by day.
Price: €2,950 for the complete boat and up to 3 persons taking tuition.

The Helmsman and Day Skipper Courses are held aboard our Starfisher 840 Motor Yacht. The Course is non-residential, making it an ideal course to take whilst on holiday in Tenerife. The price quoted is the Charter Price including use of the vessel and Instruction from an RYA Motor Cruising Instructor. The price is for up to 3 persons taking tuition as you have the complete boat to yourself. Accommodation, fuel, food and mooring fees away from our base Marina are not included.
