Course content |
|
Safety, seamanship and helmsmanship. An introduction to equipment on board the yacht, rules of the road and meteorology.

Notes: RYA Helmsman course is for motor yachts, and in tidal or non-tidal waters. Due to our location all our courses are tidal, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
This is a great course for those new to motor yachts who would like a good introduction, see how they handle and complete some short trips.
This is very much a hands-on course with little time to teach navigation or other theoretical subjects. It introduces complete beginners to motor cruising and teaches basic boat handling, safety, seamanship, an introduction to engine maintenance and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of the crew of a motor cruising yacht.
The duration of the course is two days, and you will return to the base marina each night. Consider combining this course with the RYA Dayskipper practical course over 5 days. The course is non-residential although accommodation on board can be negotiated as part of a 7 day holiday. |

This is a two day course which comes back to the base marina every night. It is often run in conjunction with the Day Skipper course. You spend the two days getting familiar with the boat and explore the anchorages away from the beaten track around Tenerife.
