Patron para Navigacion Basica (P.N.B)
Theory 14 Hours & Radio 2 Hours. Practical element – 12 Hours. This is a Basic Course which we will run as required. We recommend taking the P.E.R. which qualifies the holder to operate recreational vessels up to 12m L.O.A. and within 12 miles of the Coast or Inter-Island.
Courses 2012
Examination Dates Tenerife 2012 have not yet confirmed. However, in 2011, the Spring Examination took place on 29th & 30th April for Patron de Yate and 14th May for P.N.B & P.E.R. There was no Examination for Capitan de Yate in Tenerife, the only Examination for this Qualification was scheduled for November in Gran Canaria.
Due to the Special Circumstances that exist, we have requested that an Examination for Capitan de Yate be held in April or May, preferably in Tenerife.
Taking both the Patron de Yate & Capitan de Yate at the same time is not for the faint hearted! We recommend taking the Patron de Yate, followed by the Capitan de Yate. However, we have included the C. d Y. Course January to April for those Candidates who simply must try to get the qualification as early as possible. In the event that the Authorities do not grant our request for a Capitan de Yate Examination in the Spring, we will withdraw the C. de Y. course scheduled for January.
Mileage Building
We will be running a number of Mileage Building Courses during 2012, including Ocean Passages. A passage of about three weeks would be required to reach 2500 miles. A suggested itinerary is Tenerife, Madeira, Gibraltar, Lanzarote & Tenerife. We may also venture into the Med. These courses will also give the required minimum of 5 passages over 60 miles.
STCW 95 (Formacion Basica)
For those taking the Commercial Qualification, the Formacion Basica Course is over 5 days, and run in Santa Cruz. The local course is considerably cheaper than corresponding courses in the UK.
